OKEGOAL.COM - Barcelona president Joan Laporta has leaked his club's transfer plans this summer.
There are currently two positions Barcelona want to strengthen in order to move in the 2023/2024 season.
Meanwhile, financial troubles still surround Laugrana (Barcelona's nickname).
This is why they failed to bring Lionel Messi to the Camp Nou.
Meanwhile, Ronald Araujo's last contract in La Liga has not been registered.
While the situation is far from ideal, Joan Laporta is confident Barcelona have the ability to sign Ronaldo Araujo and bring in new players.
Joan Laporta told Diario AS via Football Espana, “What we have agreed to is yes, I am confident we will achieve it. The transfer window has just opened.”
On the other hand, there are two positions that Barcelona want to strengthen: the back line and the defensive line.
Laporta revealed that as coach, Xavi Hernandez has asked the club to sign a new midfielder.
“We are more or less focused on everything related to defense,” said the 61-year-old.
“If the necessary exits can do that, no doubt we will make some additions.”
“There will be additional reinforcements in midfield because manager [Xavi] has requested it,” he said.
But to satisfy that need, Blaugrana will have to sell some players first.
Meanwhile, at the forefront, we are confident that our current players can play competitively next season.
“We'll see what happens to the players who have been offered,” added Laporta.
“I kind of [fixed] the front line at first.”
“In principle, I will continue to work with players who have said they will leave, but they will stay,” he said.
However, although Barcelona performed well defensively last season, the current situation is still far from ideal.
They have only one player in the right-back position, and that is Julian Araujo.
Moreover, Julián Araujo is still young (21 years old) and has not been tested to become a regular starter in the back. So we need a new player to fill this spot.
The left-back position is occupied by Alejandro Balde and Marcos Alonso.
